Woodworking Projects 1
Country Decorating using Pine Furniture.
I have been designing and creating Country Wood Furniture for many years
now and enjoy the smiles I still receive when many of my clients and
store buyers purchase my Country Style Furniture. In this section you
will find some of the wood furniture that I have manufactured over the
years. Much of my Australian Countryware has found its way to most
corners of Australia over the years. In fact many items have now found
their way overseas. So to all you Wood Workers out there, take the hint
and feel free to add any of my ideas to your at home wood projects.
The Bathroom Bench seat was made for a private order. Seat was first painted in “jet black” then over painted with white followed by several watered down versions of white. Top layers were lightly sand papered enabling the black base layer to be seen in selected parts. The end result was an “old worn out bench” effect which fits into the Australian Countryware theme. Having fun with Pine Furniture! (Hope you liked the result Susan)
Side Table
The Federation Style side table was first made in May 2003. This was a
private order for Marlene & Steve. The result was an extremely
attractive Side table that was appealing to the eye. The lower shelf
created another feature that could be used for further decorating, as
well as keeping the table legs ‘tied’ together. This piece of wood
furniture made it into my regular product list. Thanks for the idea
Marlene!
TV Cabinet
The Federation style TV cabinet was made for Ray & Jenny. The doors
swing out and then retract back into the cabinet sides enabling a clear
view of the television. The hinge system used was reasonably expensive,
however added aesthetic value to the cabinet. The middle lower doors
drop down and allow for DVD and VCR units. Two bottom drawers on left
and right are for storage. It goes to show that even though this cabinet
is in Federation Style it can easily fit into the Country Style
Furniture theme!
Model House
A miniature old Country farm house.
Detailing is as follows:
Shingle roof, weatherboard exterior, veranda and porch with wooden floor
boards inside and out. Stone chimney, hinged windows and doors.
Corrugated water tank on wooden stand. The roof system lifts off to show
interior furniture and detailing. The house has a low voltage light
system which gives a great look at night. House is painted to give it
that old farmhouse look about it. Just having a little fun with Country
Decorating!
Meat Safe
The meat safe was manufactured in July 2003 as an order via a retail
outlet for Mrs. Young. The Meat safe stands approximately 1135mm high and
is about 450mm square. Fly-wire screen is used on doors and sides.
Brassware is in antique bronze which compliments this wood furniture
item. For all you wood workers out there, you will find that building
this type of wood furniture is so easy if you have the equipment
available. If you are into the Rustic Furniture theme, all you have to
do is "swing the chain" a little to get the desired effect. Careful
though, as too much of the "hammered effect" often tends to do more
damage to the overall look of the Pine furniture item!
Country Cabinet
The above Country style wood furniture cabinet was manufactured in June
2003 as an order for Julie & Shane. The unit was made to fit into their
son’s bedroom and matched an earlier one my business had made some time
ago. The cabinet stands about 830mm high and has a central shelf inside.
Hinges and knob are in antique bronze. The cabinet is now part of my
product range and would fit into any Country Decorating theme. Who said
making Pine Furniture is hard!
I hope you liked some of my Wood Furniture selections. The benefit of working with Pine Furniture is the simple fact that it is easy. The final result is in the finishing and placement in your Country Decorating theme.
